Midterms week is a pretty stressful time for Techers. Classes don't stop, and somehow you're expected to fit in all of your midterms (they're typically take-home) or essays. Now, as a senior, I only have one midterm this year, so I'm pretty okay with that. But I did have to finish a draft of my senior thesis, which...well that was...a lot. That's all I'm going to say about that.
But there are generally a lot of perks that go on with midterms. Caltech tries to ease the stress as much as possible. For example, today, the South House Resident Life Coordinator invited everyone to the South House courtyard. There, for a couple of hours, they had boba, music, and games. More importantly, though, they had masseuses! Yes, you read that correctly. There were four stations set up, and from 1-4 PM you could sign up for a 10 minute massage.
Also, something else my house does is hold a midterms barbeque. Our RA fires up the grill and cooks us all burgers. Dinner is one less thing for us to worry about - we just run to the courtyard and grab some food. Midterms may not be fun, but Caltech does its best to make it a little bit nicer for us.
